Projects: Alaska Peninsula & Aleutians - Page 1 | 2

GTA recently completed a project in Cold Bay, AK. The project included the installation of Bioventing/Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE) wells and soil gas monitoring points. This project highlighted the multi-use capabilities of GTA’s Geoprobe© 6620 direct-push machine. The 6620 has the ability to apply both direct-push and augering techniques. In this project the vent/SVE wells required a boring size of 6.25 in. using hollow-stem auger (HSA), while the soil gas monitoring points were more efficiently installed with the use of direct-push. Both of these tasks were completed with one machine that was mobilized with considerably less cost than a traditional drilling rig.

GTA successfully completed a project in Dutch Harbor using direct-push technology to acquire soil and groundwater samples. GTA’s equipment and tooling provided for the most economic method of acquiring data for an environmental assessment project at this remote location. This project used GTA’s capability to directionally push (approx. 40 degree angle) probe rod to acquire soil and groundwater samples beneath a structure in Dutch Harbor.
